Family Law Staff Attorney

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in a broad range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, and paternity.
• Advocate for clients in court appearances, hearings, and trials at the state and federal level.
• Conduct client intake interviews, provide legal advice and counsel, and ensure client understanding.
• Research and interpret relevant laws, rulings, and regulations pertaining to assigned cases.
• Prepare and review legal documents, such as pleadings, orders, discovery requests, and others, for court or government agencies.
• Negotiate and draft settlement agreements that are favorable to clients.
• Participate in outreach events to raise awareness of legal services for low-income families.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice law in good standing in the state of Florida.
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in civil litigation or working with low-income and/or vulnerable populations on civil legal matters.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
• Commitment to social justice and serving the community.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work scheduled and occasional evening/weekend hours as needed.
