Estimator – Heavy & Highway Construction Industry

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Estimator to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. If you have a strong understanding of construction costs, contracts, and bidding processes, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

• Develop estimates ranging from $200,000 – $20 million+ from various types of bid documents and specifications and their key components such as bonding, insurance, indemnification and damage clauses.
• Perform thorough and accurate quantity takeoffs.
• Analyze plans and specifications to ensure accurate scope of work and develop appropriate means and methods strategies.
• Visit proposed job sites within the local and regional area.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and represent the company effectively.
• Obtain owner sign-off on all bids before submittal.
• Understand and be able to account for factors outside company control which will impact the final bid package.
• Attend networking events to attract private work

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in heavy civil, site work, underground utilities, excavation, and earth moving estimating.
• Proficiency in estimating software (HCSS HeavyBid Estimating System preferred) is required.
• Experience bidding on projects in the Northeastern US is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and data entry.
• Ability to effectively utilize the internet for research and information gathering.
• Professional demeanor to represent the company with a positive image.
