Job Description

We are seeking Family Law Attorneys/Partners throughout New Jersey to join our growing firm. In this position, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in the firm and work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and administrators.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process.
  • Help solve legal problems for clients through analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action.
  • Represent clients in court proceedings as needed.
  • Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed.
  • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current.
  • Prepare Family Law related documents including pleadings and correspondence.
  • Provide legal counsel and strategy to clients by analyzing their needs and determining the proper course of action.
  • Represent clients in court.
  • Must be prepared to step in and handle pieces of existing family law cases; as well as handle new cases as part of a team, from initial consultation to trial.

Qualifications:

  • Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially in highly stressful and emotional situations.
  • Extra consideration for those with a criminal justice background.
  • At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are required.
  • Must be admitted to practice in New Jersey.
  • Minimum of 3 years of family law experience but more experience preferred.
  • Can handle own caseload with independent decision making and has some trial experience.
  • Strong written, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and organized.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • An existing book of business is a plus, but not required.
